It’s a good introduction to dungeons, even if you’re skipping Shadowkeep, and overall, Destiny 2 feels like an important part of the ecosystem. The main story is centered on Aramis, who just so happens to be the current villain we’ve been fighting this season, with the introduction of this story. Its raid, Deep Stone Crypt, is stellar, and one of Destiny’s best. It’s a DLC with what I’d say is Destiny’s best expansion location, Europa, a mix of snowy landscapes and charming Exo factories. This is the only DLC required to use the entire subclass of the game, Stasis. No, I don’t think it’s necessary for Destiny 2 Best DLC, I would rank Forsaken and Witch Queen above this, and even then it seems like a good starting point for me. Still, if you buy the bundle, you’ll want to start here by looking at the timeline.ĭestiny 2: Beyond Light – This is really my pick for DLC which I would pick up first. I would also argue that its raid, Garden of Salvation, is not as good as other raids linked to the other expansions available. One of its funniest aspects, the public program of the altar of sorrow on the moon, is available for free. It’s relatively short, all things considered, with its missions being just about assembling a set of armor and fighting the ghosts of previous Destiny bosses. Unfortunately, I’d also consider this to be Destiny’s weakest expansion. This is what Bungie considers to be the beginning of the current Light and Dark saga, and while I would argue it, it is the first meaningful introduction to Pyramids and Darkness. The real story campaign is gone.ĭestiny 2: Shadowkeep – This is the actual first expansion you can buy chronologically now, and the one that will No According to Bungie, be the vault. It’s just for raids and dungeons, which is nice, not something I’d pick up on unless you get too deep into the game. Don’t be fooled into buying a “Forsaken Pack” into thinking you’ll get this DLC. But even this campaign is now in the vault like this past year, and Cayde-6 only exists as a voice in a strike or two. Now that’s all gone, and you have the discovery of Shaw Han as the main route to onboarding.ĭestiny 2: Give up - My old answer to this question would have to start with Forsaken, which many would consider Destiny 2’s best DLC, and one with a coherent, engaging story as you avenge the death of a fallen friend, Cayde-6. The new player F2P experience included this campaign, two DLC and one year of seasonal content. This… no longer exists, the whole thing being kept in a “content vault” which is unlikely to ever emerge. It was not an expansion, but the base campaign of the original game. But I still have some advice.ĭestiny 2: The Red War – Just for reference, I’m a beginner from the beginning. If you Huh Going to buy a Destiny 2 DLC after hooking up to the free parts of the game, which one should it be? Ideally, you’ll want to negate the question by just buying one big bundle with all of them, but if you only want to pick one, it’s…difficult. Free, and that they will be asked to purchase all previous DLC separately or in larger bundles in order to experience some of the game’s best content. While Destiny 2 is going to be working on its onboarding of new players when Lightfall hits with some sort of new “Guardian Ranks” system, the game is unlikely to fix the fact that it’s still going to be open to new players.
